Planning your future legal career is essential and gaining real legal experience, vital. And we do mean real legal experience rather than answering phones, sorting out filing cabinets or running errands. Every year Dickson Minto offers a limited number of summer placements to students undertaking a Scots law degree at a Scottish university. We invite applications from students at any time to seek a placement in the summer prior to their graduation year although we do encourage early applications as places are keenly sought. Interviews will generally take place in January and placements allocated by the end of that month.
All of our summer students will be considered for a traineeship so you may rest assured that we will take your time with us seriously, learning about you and showing you something of us while giving you the opportunity to be involved in meaningful legal activity. You will be guaranteed a period of work in a minimum of two ‘seats’, possibly more, and will spend three weeks of your time in our Charlotte Square offices in Edinburgh.
As one of the UK’s foremost law practices, Dickson Minto’s summer placements offer real opportunity to successful applicants. Many of our trainees have joined us via this route in previous years.
Applicants for these places should be able to demonstrate an interest in corporate law. You should write in the first instance to Allan Fraser, Partner, at our Edinburgh offices (see ‘Contact Us’ in this website) with a brief CV and accompanying letter. We are happy to consider applications at any time. |
